Prince2 2009 Revision Notes: Start Up

Every project has to start somewhere and it starts with been given a project mandate.

The purpose of this of this process is to evalutate whether the project is viable and worthwhile. The key to remember is that it should be done fast, it is simply the process of putting together enough information to check whether the project is viable and that an informed choice can be made.

In the SU (Start Up) Process we need to do the following activities:

Outline Business Case Capture previous lessons, which will go into the outline business case Prepare the outline Business Case to see if it is viable. Create the Daily Log (any risks identified, should be added) Create the Lessons Log ensuring that previous lessons have been captured Project Brief Define the approach and assemble the Project Brief Plan the Initiation Stage and to submit it to the Project Board for Approval
