Business Continuity Planning & Management Support
Management support is a major requirement for anything that has such far-reaching ramifications as business continuity planning. Disaster recovery, continuity development, and planning work best in a top-down approach, not a bottom-up approach. This means that management, not the staff, should be driving the project so it is critical that management understands what the real threats are to the organisation, the consequences of those threats, and the potential loss values for each threat.
Without management support, the necessary resources, funds, and time will not be devoted, this could result in poor planning instilling a false sense of security. Failure of these plans usually means a failure in management understanding, vision, and due-care responsibilities.
